The project is based on the association of soviet republics and particular points as the units which builded Soviet Union, as well as the circle was the symbol of it.

Constitutionally, the Soviet Union was a union of Soviet Socialist Republics (SSRs).  Between July 1956 and September 1991, there were 15 union republics.
